Reginald James Metcalf, 61, a native of Richmond, KY., and resident of Houma, LA. for the past 54 years, died after a lengthy illness at his home, Saturday, February 10, 2007.


A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home.


He is survived by his wife, Dianne Metcalf; one daughter, Amey French and husband, Jay French; one granddaughter, Fenner French of Knoxville, Tenn.; his mother, Elsie Metcalf Hebert; and three sisters, Sandra Kardinal, Sharon Naquin and Sylvia Ockmond.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Metcalf.

He was sometimes known as R.J. and was an electrical engineer at McDermott for the past 34 years. He was an avid tennis player, golfer and snow skier. During his illness, he continued to enjoy watching these sports with the help of his close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 905 Canal Blvd., Thibodaux, LA 70301.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
