Rev. Cyreal Chapman, 82, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, October 1, 2007.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Ruffin Chapman, three sons, Robert Chapman and his wife Diane, Randolph Chapman and his wife Barbara, and Eddie Chapman and his wife Lydia; six daughters, Veralyn Coleman and her husband Will, Mary Clay and her husband Elroy, JoAnn Jackson and her husband Floyd, Druzella Randolph, Beverly Gathen, and Cynthia Jones; six sisters, Muriel Chapman, Barbara Chapman, Marlene Chapman, Jenetta Chapman, Mary Chapman, and Judy Ringo; 41 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Chapman and Lillie Smith; his two brothers, George and Sam Williams; one sister, Gladys Chapman James; and his grandmother, Hailie Smith.

Cyreal was a devoted loving husband to his wife Sarah for 62 years. He was the pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church for 21 years and he served as secretary for the Terrebonne Parish Men’s Day Association. He was a member of the Southern Baptist 5th District Association. He enjoyed planting flowers in his garden. He was a former Truck Driver with Terrebonne Lumber Company.

Visitation is Sunday, October 7, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the funeral Held Monday, October 8, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church in Houma. He will be buried in the church cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
