Richard “Rick” Joseph Bethancourt Jr., 62, a native of Tampa, Fl., and a resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, February 14, at 1:45 p.m.


He is survived by his wife, Annie Lau Bethancourt; mother, Gabrielle Cooper Bethancourt; son, Richard Joseph Bethancourt III; daughters, Kimberly Bethancourt, Michele Wong and husband David Wong, and Iris Bethancourt Stuart and husband Caleb Stuart; sister, Carolyn Bethancourt Kyle and husband Bill Kyle; brother, Norris James Bethancourt and wife Peggy Bethancourt; and grandchildren, Serene Wong, Joy Wong and Chloe’ Isabella Stuart.


He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Joseph Bethancourt Sr.

He attended Louisiana State University and the U.S. Air Force Academy and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a Mason and a member of the National Rifle Association. He retired from Dresser International Guiberson Division as an area manager for the Asia/Pacific region. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, at Chauvin Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
