Ronald James Ortego Sr., 80, a native of Ville Platte, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis Fontenot Ortego of Houma; three sons, Ronald Ortego Jr. and wife Janice, Steve Ortego and Tim Ortego of Houma; one daughter, Stephanie Fulin and husband Wayne of Sugarland, Tx.; two brothers, Calvin Ortego of Houma and Gerald Ortego of Ville Platte; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fabuse Ortego and Amy Fontenot Ortego; one brother, George Ortego; and one sister, Berna Belle Stanbrough.
He was a retired chemical engineer with LA Mud Company for 40 years. He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, at St. Bernadette Church with mass to follow. He will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
