Sam Sawyer Jr., 88, a native and resident of Labadieville, La., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center
Mr. Sawyer was a retired laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Sawyer; daughters, Carrie (Henderson) Oliver, Deloris and Lois Sawyer, and Lillie (Robert) Meads; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Sam Sawyer Sr.; one son, Jerome Sawyer; one daughter, Beverly Coleman; one grandson, Titus Meads; and four sisters, Almeta and Adline Sawyer, Pricilla Bolden and Josephine Meads.
He is buried at St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery.
