Samuel Douglas (Sammy) Burgess Jr., 66, a native of Leonia, Fl., and a resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, September 2, at 11:31 p.m.
He is survived by his sons, Tony Douglas and wife Stacey, and Michael Lee Burgess Sr.; daughter, Samantha Fanguy and husband Travis; sisters, Dorothy Haggard and Doris Warran; grandchildren, Trevor and Tabitha Fanguy, Michael Lee Jr., Nikki and Brittney Burgess; and great-grandchildren, Jace and Amiyah Verdin.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Patricia Pledger Burgess; parents, Samuel Sr. and Jessie D. Parker Burgess; and sisters, Louise Sawyers and Minnie Joe Burgess.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
A memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
