Shirley Collins

Shirley Alice Smith Collins, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010.

She is survived her children, Christine (Shelby) Hypolite, Carolyn Stokes and Sylvia Gross; three grandchildren, Davorreon, Dabriel and Daybriel Johnson; godchildren, Irene Williams and Everett Benn; sister-in-law, Dorris Tollet, Vera Goodman and Edward Collins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Collins Sr.; parents, William Sr. and Octavia Swayne Smith Hughes; children, Allyson Collins and Andrew Johnson Jr.; grandson, Anthony Gross; brothers, Willie Hughes Jr. and Alvester Barnes; and sister, Elizabeth Forte.

Mrs. Collins is buried at Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale.
