Shirley N. Blanchard, 78, a native of Chauvin, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011.


Mrs. Blanchard loved and was known for her love to others, her cooking, sewing, embroidering and her many crafts for which she won many awards. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be kept warm by her hand-sewn quilts. She was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for 46 years and along with her husband, Linus, visited others to give them spiritual encouragement. She was loved tremendously by her family and friends and she will never be forgotten.


She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Linus Blanchard; daughters, Vickie (Gary) Blanchard and Noricia (Jude) Young; sons, Reese and Kenneth (Christine) Blanchard; brother, Linwood Neal; six sisters, Gladys Porter, Alice Fanguy, Thelma Bergeron, Helen Roddy, Anna Mae Dupre and Earline Roger; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clairville and Noricia Neal; brothers, Edward, Edgar, Allen and Willard Neal; and sisters, Agnolia Blanchard, Lucricia Gautreaux, Lillian Redmond, Loricia, Viola and baby Neal.

Burial was at Garden of Memories Cemetery. (Falgout)
