Velma Neil Marie, 87, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Monday, Oct. 5, at 8:25 a.m.
She is survived by two sons, Robert “Bobby” Marie and wife Sherrlyn, and Henry Marie and wife Kathy; six daughters, Earline Sevin and husband George, Laverne Marie, Brenda Lirette, Linda Chauvin and husband Richard, Maxine Martin and husband Lanny “Chuckie”, and Christine Authement and husband Gordon one brother, Reggie Neil; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Marie; parents, Henry Sr. and Laurencia Ledet Neil; one son, Stanley Marie; four brothers, Anthony Hebert and Henry Jr. Jeffrey and Edward Neil; four sisters, Edia Adams, Regina Robichaux, Pauline Duplantis and a twin sister; two grandsons, Timothy “Timmy” Marie and Jody Paul Lirette; and one son-in-law, Sam Lirette.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Samart Funeral Home in Houma, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
