Vernon Adolfe Rogers, 85, a native of Houma, La., and a resident of Merryville, La., died Monday, September 22.


He is survived by his wife, Rita B. Rogers; son, James M. Rogers III; sister, Mary Nell Piazza; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Rogers and Alice Gross Rogers; brothers, James Edward Rogers and Willy Burton Rogers; and sister Elouise McCarthy.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 28, and 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Monday, September 29, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma with services to follow. He will be buried at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Houma.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
