William “Bill” Champagne, 83, a native of Luling, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2016.


After his retirement from Shell Oil Company, Mr. Champagne enjoyed listening to Cajun music and dancing with his wife. He raised beagles and was an avid rabbit hunter. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Josie Gaubert Champagne; children, Kevin (Tracey), Mitch (Natalie), Bridget (Charles) Nathan, Katherina (David) Hawkins and Celeste (Chad) Caillouet; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Adler and Kenneth Champagne; sisters, Jeanette Nicoley, Margie Butcher and Mary Ann Lendle.

Burial is at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.
