October 1, 1928 – December 23, 2020

Our beloved mother, Annie Ray Martin Benoit Primm passed peacefully at her home on the morning of December 23, 2020. She was 92 years young.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Benoit Jr., wife Linda and Nathan Benoit, wife Shirley; six daughters, Brenda Dupree and husband Mike, Cheryl Golmon and husband Robert, Pam Fitzgerald, Melanie Knoblock and husband Miles, Crystal Hornsby and husband Roger and Mia Gauthier and husband Brian; 2 step daughters, Deborah Leger and Elizabeth Primm; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her brother Maiston Martin, sister Lois Lackey and Aunt Shirley Duplantis.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Charles Benoit Sr.; her parents Mantin and Rosa Martin; son-in-law John Fitzgerald; four brothers Forrest Sr., Emery Dean, Wade, and Elias J. Martin and sister Maudry LeBoeuf; and her second husband, William Primm.

Annie Ray was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 77 years and loved sharing Bible truths with others. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her interests included gardening, music, writing poetry, singing and shopping. She had a style and confidence that was all her own. That joie de vivre gave her all the material that she needed to share such captivating tales with us about her youth, good times down on Main Street and about her and the love of her life, Charles Benoit Sr. Rarely was she seen without earrings, the latest shade of lipstick, a Coca- Cola in hand and in high heels. She always donned a smile and loved to laugh, especially when laughing at herself. She brought true beauty wherever she went and will be missed dearly.

A private funeral service will be held at Samart Funeral Home in Gray on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects by attending a procession at Samart beginning at 2:00.

Special thanks to all who lovingly cared for her throughout each phase of her struggle with Alzheimers and for the outpouring of love at this time.

Samart Funeral Home, West Park is in charge of the arrangements.
