Callen John Cortez, a resident of Kraemer, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the age of 71.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Hotard Cortez; children, Kelsey Cortez and Callie Billiot (Mike); grandchildren, Brittany Oubre, Pacie Cortez, Riley Cortez, Triston Billiot and Tanner Billiot; great grandchildren, Sky Oubre and Destrie Rivere; siblings, Priscilla Bergeron, Enola Adams (Edwin), Daniel Cortez (Gail), Mitchell Cortez (Brenda), Sherielee Stein (Edmond), Edmond Cortez (Liz) and Parick Cortez; and beloved pet, Scooter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Calise and Rita Cortez.
Callen was a welder, retiring from Game Equipment in 2019. He was also a first responder and member of the Bayou Boeuf Volunteer Fire Department. He actively served as a member of The Knights of Columbus. Callen enjoyed fishing and spending time at his camp. He loved his family and treasured every moment spent with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
