Captain Frank Gill, 83, a native of Milton, FL, and longtime Resident of Dulac, LA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2023.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation in his honor on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at St. Francis Cemetery No. 2.

Captain Frank is survived by his son, Ricky Gill (Angela); grandchildren, Brandon Gill (Kristina) and Donavon Gill (Allison); and great-grandchildren, Trent Fitch (McKenzie), Karmyn Gill, Rose Gill, and Archer Gill.

He was preceded in passing by his loving wife of 56 years, Geraldine Gill; and his parents, Darence and Myrtle Gill.

His days were spent navigating the vast waterways on his vessel The Tom James now known as Captain Frank, pursuing his two greatest passions: fishing and working on his beloved vessel. Whether trying his luck at reeling in the catch of the day or passionately undertaking repairs on his dredge, Frank found solace and joy in the gentle embrace of the water.

In his downtime, Captain Frank could often be found gathered with friends and family, exchanging stories and laughter while enjoying a cold beer. His cheerful spirit was infectious, and he had a knack for making everyone feel at ease in his presence. With his warm smile and genuine kindness, he touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on each and every heart he encountered.

Captain Frank’s memory will forever be remembered on the water; he will be missed by his devoted son, Ricky Gill. Their bond, woven through shared experiences and a mutual love for the maritime world, remains unbreakable.

As we say goodbye to a treasured friend, father, and boat captain, let us remember Captain Frank’s vibrant spirit, his unwavering love for the water, and his ability to find joy in the simplest of moments. May his legacy serve as a reminder to embrace life’s adventures and cherish the moments spent on the open sea.

Rest in peace, Captain Frank.
