January 17, 1995 — December 27, 2023

Duncan Prentice, 28, a lifelong resident of Houma, LA, passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Selfless and beloved son, grandson, brother, friend, co-worker, team-member. He always tried to do what he considered good, avoided attention and deserved praise, and loved his work in costal restoration with an uncommon passion.

The world was better with him in it, but the example he set for this world in his short 28 years lives on within all lucky enough to have made his acquaintance. In life, everyone he touched is a stronger, better person for having known him.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation in his honor on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at St. Francis de Sales from 10:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Burial to immediately follow at St. Francis Cemetery #2.

Duncan is survived by his loving loving parents, Derrick and Melanie Prentice; sisters, Katherine and Emery Prentice; paternal grandparents, Bob and Kathleen Landry Prentice; maternal grandmother, Deborah Vaughn Breaux; aunts, Amanda Giordano (Joseph), Kristin Martin-Prentice, (Jennine), Karoline Prentice Ruppenicker (Donna). He was preceded in passing by his maternal grandfather Gary Breaux.

In lieu of flowers, Duncan’s parents request donations be made to The Danos Foundation 3878 West Main Street, Gray, LA 70359.

Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Duncan Prentice.
