Elson “Nab” Matherne Sr., 86, a resident of Bourg, passed away on November 17, 2023.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 9am to 11am, with the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11am, at St. Ann Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his sons, Elson (Trudy) Matherne and Kerry Matherne; daughters, Debra (Kent) Boquet, Pauline Scott, Roxana (Tiger) LeBlanc, Sandy (Ivy) Price; daughter in law, Deanna Matherne; 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Boquet Matherne; son, Terry Matherne; parents, Ernest and Lellia Matherne; brothers, Gustave, Houston Sr., Horace, and Johnny Matherne; sisters, Lydia Matherne and Rita Folse.
Nab loved to fish and was a great welder. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather who will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Samart Funeral Home of Houma, Bayou Blue is in charge of arrangements.
