Mark Stanley Fontenot, 67, died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 4:45 PM. Born August 5, 1954 he was a native and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana.


A visitation will be held on Thursday, December, 23, 2021 from 8:30 AM until service time at Saint Joseph Co-Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with burial following at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Mire Fontenot; sons, Jamey Fontenot, Bryan Fontenot, Eric Fontenot (Maggie); grandchildren, Gavin, Haley, Kayleigh, Gage, Aubrey; sister, Belinda F. Benoit. He is also survived by his companion and pup, Max, known to him as Jr. Fontenot.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Belvin “Pete” Fontenot and Burnita Starkey Fontenot; sister, Brenda F. Pitre.


Mark served the Louisiana Fire Service for 50 years and served as Fire Chief of Lafourche Crossing LA-1 for over 10 years. He was a member of the Lafourche 911 Board of Directors for 17 years and Honorary Fire Chief of St. John Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former Thibodaux Police Officer. Mark and his father owned and operated Mark’s Grocery.
