Mary Lou Broussard Benson Cunningham, 89, a native of Clarks, LA and resident of Houma for 65 years, passed away on December 6, 2022.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 from 9am to 12pm, with the funeral service to begin at 12pm, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, Bayou Blue. Burial will follow in Rogers Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Emery A. Cunningham; sons, Rick Benson (Ellen), Greg Benson (Mary), Rob Benson (Denise), and Lance Benson (Cheryl); grandchildren, Ryan (Daniela), Richard, Kacie (Hunter), Brandon (Phoebe), Ryan, Laura, Jessica (Lyle), Nathan (Jelly), and Christen; great grandchildren, Caleb, Hayden, Kayden, Brendyn, Weston, and Lara; and beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis N. and Ina K. Broussard; 5 brothers, Dallas, Louis, Hugh, Sidney, and Albert Broussard; and sister, Pauline “Polly” Martin (Danny).
Mary Lou was a teacher’s aide with the Terrebonne Parish School System for over 25 years. Mary Lou served as the primary pianist for First Baptist Church for 32 years. She loved her family and loved playing the piano. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
