August 26, 1983 – May 01, 2022


Matthew Jon Parker was born on August 26, 1983, in Houma, LA. On Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 2:54 pm, at the age of 38, he took his last breath and was called home to Heaven where his father was waiting with open arms. Matthew’s time on this Earth was short but powerful, and he will be forever missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Chauvin Funeral Home from 10:00 am until service time.  Liturgy of the Word will follow visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 pm/Noon.  Burial will follow services in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 (Bayou Cane).

Matthew is survived by his mother, Faye Trahan Parker; sons, Keith Anthony Trahan and Matthew Jon Parker Jr.; sister, Cassie Mae Parker; nephew/sous-chef, Alijah Ted Parker; grandmother, Evelyn Hebert Trahan; godmother, Cheryl Trahan Sanford; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.


Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Ted H. Parker; godfather, James “Ed” Parker; grandfather, Euclis J.Trahan Jr.; grandparents, James A. Parker and Eula C. Massel; great grandparents, Alcide J. Hebert and Thelma D. Hebert.

Matthew was a simple man, but certainly one of a kind. He was a protective and loving son, big brother, father, uncle, and on his way to becoming a tugboat Captain. For those that knew him, one of his greatest loves was cooking and feeding others, carrying on the legacy of his father. Their favorite motto, “Eat, Drink and Be Merry”
