Shirley Bergeron, 87, a native and resident of Houma, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
She is survived by her children, Connie Stout, Brian (Susan) Bergeron, Lori Bergeron Tewalt, and Allison (Roy) Bergeron; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and siblings, Earl (Rose) Eschete, Ruby Samanie, Carroll (Linda) Eschete, Claudia (Royce) LeBoeuf, Dennis (Mary) Eschete, Sandra (David) Harwell, Adrian (June) Eschete, and Stevie (Anna) Eschete.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond J. Bergeron; grandchildren, Ashleigh Rogers and Michelle Swint; great-grandchild, Emily Hope Laurence; parents, Howard Eschete and Viola Eschete Normand; brothers, Howard Eschete Jr. and Warren Eschete; brother-in-law, Bobby Samanie; and son-in-law, Paul Duval.
Shirley worked for many years as a telephone operator for South Central Bell. In her free time she enjoyed dancing with her husband, listening to good music, cooking homemade meals for her family and friends, and watching football and baseball, especially the Saints and LSU. She had a great sense of humor, loved joking and playing lighthearted pranks on her friends and family, and brought laughter and joy into every room she entered.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, 635 Bayou Blue Rd., Houma, LA from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow in Rogers Cemetery, Houma, Louisiana.
