Terry Preston, 65, of Houma, passed away on June 23, 2023.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Covenant Church of Houma from 9:00 am until funeral service starting at 11:00 am.
He is survived by his wife Dalinda Preston, his siblings, Paula (Steve) Shewmake, Pattie (Kirk) Hill, Danny (Kim) Preston and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Clyde Preston, mother Virginia Gray Preston, son, Terry Gray Preston Jr. , brother, Rodney Preston, and niece Emily Claire Preston.
Above all else, Terry was a disciple of his savior, Jesus Christ. He loved his Lord and was always quick to share with others his unshakable belief in the salvation that comes from accepting Jesus’ sacrifice for us, and the coming of the Kingdom of God. He did not hide his light under a bushel.
As a member of The Gideons International, Terry faithfully supported the mission of making the Word of God available to everyone and reaching souls for Christ. He served as his chapter’s chaplain.
After proudly serving his country as a United States Marine, Terry was honorably discharged and began a long, rewarding career as an over-the-road truck driver, which had him travel all over this country and gave him the opportunity to meet people everywhere he went. Everyone who knew Terry knows he never met a stranger.
He was slow to anger and quick to show thoughtful compassion. He never held a grudge — his unwavering support of the New Orleans Saints being a good example.Terry deeply loved and cherished his wife of 35 years and referred to her often as his “darling Dalinda.” His love for his family and friends was demonstrated daily in person, in texts, in phone calls, and online.Terry was a good and decent man. He loved others and was loved. He will be missed and remembered by everyone who knew him.
