The 5th annual Capital One Classic golf tournament presented by Terrebonne General Medical Center will be held May 1-4 at Ellendale Country Club in Houma.

About 135 pros will participate in the event, part of The Adams Golf Pro Tour Series, where players try to graduate to the PGA Tour.

The 2005 winner, Bubba Watson, has already made an impact on the PGA Tour.

Proceeds from the tournament will aid the Children’s Coalition for the Bayou Region, which strives to create a community that nurtures the body, mind and spirit of children.

Today, the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center Pro-Am tournament will be played.

The tournament will run in a scramble format with three amateurs and one professional on each team.

The entire tournament is free to the public.
