In District 8-4A action, the Patriots (10-12, 4-5) lost to the Eagles (13-11-1, 6-3) on Saturday.


Mike Trosclair hit a home run in the second inning for Ellender’s only run. Timmy Boudreaux and Chad Wallace had two hits each.

Boudreaux took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits and two strikeouts in five innings.


Terrebonne 3, Central Lafourche 2 (Baseball)


In District 8-5A play, Terrebonne scored twice in the third inning and once in the fourth, then denied Central Lafourche a seventh inning rally to win Saturday at Broussard Field.

The Tigers (7-16 overall, 2-5 district) led 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh, when relief pitchers Stephen Daigneault and Colin Corso walked the bases loaded. Corso walked in a run to make it 3-2, then struck out the next batter to end the game.


The Trojans (11-15, 4-3) left 11 stranded base runners.


Terrebonne’s Keith Fanguy went 4-for-4 with an RBI. Fanguy also pitched 4.1 innings allowing a run on two hits, five walks and three strikeouts for the win.

Central Lafourche’s Andy Stewart suffered the loss, allowing one run on two hits in 3.1 innings.


Houma Christian 1, Runnels 0 (Softball)

The Houma Christian Lady Warriors won their first-ever District 8-B softball title with a 1-0 win over Runnels in nine innings.

It was their 14th straight win and eighth shutout during the streak.

Tied at 0-0 in the ninth inning, Houma Christian’s (23-4, 5-0) Natalie Voisin reached base on an error, and Lindsey Crowdus followed with a bunt single.

Lauren Crowdus drove in Voisin with a single to the left field fence for the win.

Winning pitcher Lauren Crowdus held Runnels to four hits and 13 strikeouts.

Runnel’s Carlie Wheeler kept Houma Christian hitless until the sixth inning. She suffered the loss despite allowing only one hit and striking out 15 in nine innings.

Runnels (19-5, 3-2) had chances to score in the sixth and eighth innings.

The Lady Warriors got out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and a two-runners-on jam in the eighth inning.
