The Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce has been around for over 30 years, but unlike many other chambers has not held a fundraising golf tournament.

Until now.

The first annual Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce golf tournament is slated for Sept. 14 at Ellendale Country Club. Participants are still needed.

According to Kay Thibodeaux with the chamber, two flights are available, a morning flight at 8 a.m. and an afternoon flight at 12:30 p.m.

“I’ve been asking for a golf tournament for many years because almost all chambers do them,” she said. “It’s great to finally be able to do one.”

Chamber CEO Drake Pothier said the funds raised won’t go to one particular project, but a series of events the chamber sponsors all year long.

“The golf tournament is a fundraiser for the chamber but it is not targeted to one particular project,” he said. “The chamber is a non-profit organization but is always looking at expanding its services for the members and community.”

Sponsors are also still needed for the event.

The cost to enter the tournament is $150 per player or $500 per team of four.

Players will enjoy golf, lots of food and cold drinks, games and the opportunity to win prizes.

Sponsors will receive an opportunity to promote their businesses at the second-largest chamber event of the year, according to Thibodeaux.
