The Chamber of Lafourche and the Bayou Region is hosting its annual fundraising golf tournament at Sugarland Golf & Country Club in Raceland on Monday Dec. 1.

The event is an 18-hole, four-man scramble format and costs $450 for a team to participate.

The tournament will have two flights – an 8 a.m. tee time in the morning flight and a 1 p.m. tee time for the afternoon.

“It’s a great networking opportunity for some of our members,” said Lin Kigler, the Chamber’s president and chief executive officer. “It’s a fundraiser for the Chamber, so it keeps dues down for our members.”

Lunch will be served between flights. A pit will be placed on the course, where chefs will cook jambalaya and grill grillades and fresh sausage.

For those unable to golf, a $50 tee box sponsorship can be purchased.

One thousand dollar sponsors can get to display a banner onsite during the tournament and place two teams in the tournament.

So far, the event has four sponsors – Boomtown Casino, Entergy, US Liquids and Vision Communications.

There is still time for local golfers to register for the tournament.

“Because it’s at Sugarland and it’s an 18-hole course, we could probably accommodate people onsite the day of the tournament,” Kigler said. “We have done that in the past, but just so we’re prepared, we prefer everyone register by the day before the tournament.”

Interested participants can contact the Chamber by phone at (985) 693-6700, by email at lafchamber@lafourchechamber.com, or visit the Chamber web site at www.lafourchechamber.com.
