South Lafourche finished eighth in the Class 5A Boys State Golf Tournament at Oakwing Course in Alexandria last Wednesday.


The Tarpons shot a two-day total of 652 (322-330).


Mandeville (600) won the team title by two strokes over Hahnville, which shot 602.

Jess Savoie had the best finish for the Tarpons, four-way tie for 20th, shooting 156 (74-82).


Jesuit’s Myles Lewis won the state title with a score of 143 (72-71). Hahnville’s Andrew Noto and Mandeville’s Austin Gutosell finished second and third, both shooting 145.


VANDY FOURTH IN CLASS 4A

Vandebilt Catholic placed fourth in the Class 4A Boys State Golf Tournament at Beaver Creek Golf Course in Zachary Thursday.


Parkway (593) won the team title by three strokes over Teurlings, which shot 596.


The Terriers had three golfers in the top 20 for individual play. Luke David and Mitchell Bergeron finished in a six-way tie for 12th, shooting 154. Sean Brown finished in a three-way tie for 19th with a 156.

Parkway’s Cody Santone won the individual crown by one stroke over teammate Denver Green 141 to 142.


BERWICK EIGHTH IN CLASS 3A

Berwick finished eighth in last Tuesday’s Class 3A Boys State Golf Tournament, shooting a two-day total of 763 (395-368) at The Afchafalaya at Idlewild in Patterson.

Parkview Baptist won the team championship with a two-day total of 625 (322-305).

Patterson’s Ashton Abel had the best finish among local golfers tying for sixth with a 152 (80-72).

Parkview Baptist’s Chris Conroy won the individual crown by one stroke over North Vermilion’s Mick Huffman 146 to 147.

HOUMA CHRISTIAN THIRD IN CLASS B

Houma Christian finished third at last Wednesday’s Class B State Golf Tournament, shooting a two-day total of 751 (380-371) at Copper Mills Country Club in Zachary.

Hackberry won the team title with a 669 (338-331), and Episcopal School of Acadiana was second with a 730 (366-364).

The Warriors’ Jared Pellegrin and Jake Matherne finished tied for 11th with a 181 (89-92). Hayden LeJeune was 13th with a 183 (94-89).

Dallas Jenkins of Dodson won the individual title with a 150 (73-77).
