Following the Saints’ rout of the 49ers on Sunday, the team announced that season tickets will be available at the same per-game price for those who renew for the 2007 season.

For fans to renew at the current price, they need to pay a $100 deposit per account by Feb. 28. If not, new season-ticket prices will be released and sales will be made on a priority basis to fans on the team’s season-ticket waiting list, starting March 1.

“Saints fans stepped up and supported the team this year, even before the team had proven success on the field,” owner Tom Benson said in a statement. “We wanted to do this to say thank you for their loyalty and offer them the same commitment they showed us.”

In an unusual move that appeared to take the crowd by surprise, Benson made the announcement over the public-address system during the two-minute warning while standing on the sideline with wife Gayle and granddaughter and owner/executive Rita Benson LeBlanc by his side.

The Saints established a milestone during the summer by selling out all games on a season-ticket basis.
