Five Nicholls State University players have been named to the All Southland Conference team, including three first-team selections, the conference announced last Tuesday.

Defensive back and return specialist Lardarius Webb, who is a senior, was tapped for the first team, while sophomore Patrick Dolan was named as a punter.

Second-team selections include Nicholls’ center Nigel Cormier, who is a senior, and junior Zac Reddix. He is a defensive lineman for the Colonels.

Players earning honorable mention include juniors Matt Fairchild (linebacker), Aric Flowers (offensiv.e lineman), Antonio Robinson (receiver) and Ross Schexnayder (kicker) and senior Patrick Gordon (receiver).

“It is a great honor to have all of them represented on the All-SLC teams. They all had great seasons,” said head coach Jay Thomas.

The latest All Southland Conference announcement marks the second consecutive season Webb was named to the prestigious list.

Including player-of-the-week nods, Webb has earned 28 total accolades in his two-year stint with the Colonels. He was second on the team this season in tackles (55), while ranking first in interceptions with two.

Dolan led the conference in punt average with a 42.4 yards/punt mark, while also having 10 of his 38 boots land inside the 20-yard line.

Cormier was named to the second-team offense, culminating his four-year, letter-winning career at Nicholls. The Lafayette native started every game at center the last three seasons.

Reddix ended his junior season with 21 total tackles (13 solo), which included five tackles for a loss and a sack. The Prairieville native led the Colonels’ defensive line in tackles (21) and stops for a loss (five).

Fairchild’s 2008 season included 20 tackles, three for losses while Flowers started on the offensive line for the last two seasons.

Schexnayder finished this season as the Colonels leading scorer, going 12-for-15 on field goals and 21-for-24 on extra points. He scored 57 points during the season.
