For the past few years, Thibodaux quarterback/wide receiver Trovon Reed has wowed football fans throughout the Tri-parish area with his dazzling speed and uncanny athletic ability.

But this weekend, Reed put his talents on display for a larger audience and played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in front of a nationally-televised audience.

Reed was a part of the West team, which won the game 30-14. The Thibodaux High School standout had one catch for four yards receiving on the game.

Reed said the experience of playing against some of the best high school players in the country will go a long way in preparing him for college competition.

Past players who have taken part in the U.S. Army All-American Game are Vince Young, Reggie Bush, DeSean Jackson and Mark Sanchez.

The game marks the end of a storied high school career for Reed. Reed is scheduled to graduate in May and has a verbal commitment to continue his career at Auburn. But some people have wondered recently about how firm that commitment is because he’s scheduled to visit LSU on Jan. 22.

But Reed was quick to say he is still firm to Auburn and is just taking the visit to honor Louisiana’s flagship university.

“They’re the state school, so you always have to show the state school respect, because you never know what might happen,” Reed said. “But I’m still looking forward to being at Auburn.”
