31: The number of times Patterson coach Tommy Minton called All-American halfback Kenny Hilliard’s number. The standout responded and helped Patterson earn victory.

SportsNet Week 4 Players of the Week:

Bronze: South Lafourche quarterback Seth Griffin – The Tarpons dropped a fourth-straight game Friday, but it wasn’t because of a lack of effort from Griffin. The junior recorded 157 yards passing and 82 yards rushing in a loss to Vandebilt.

Silver: Terrebonne linebacker Devante Clark – In a district showdown between Terrebonne and Thibodaux, Clark kept Thibodaux off balance all game with his sure tackling and his ability to get to the football.

Gold: E.D. White fullback Dylan Ledet – The Cardinals’ fullback rushed a whopping 48 times for an even more astonishing 240 yards on Friday. And the most important stat of all is victory, as the Cardinals won for the second-straight week – 35-8 against North Vermilion.

The Super 6 power rankings

(ranking Casey Gisclair’s six best Tri-parish teams):

1. Terrebonne – The only team in the area that was supposed to challenge Terrebonne was Thibodaux. After Friday’s easy win against their supposed challengers, we’re wondering if the Tigers will lose a game all season.

2. South Terrebonne – The electricity was out in Central Lafourche’s stadium, but not in the Gators’ offense, as they piled it on en route to another easy win.

3. Vandebilt – The Terriers can run and they can throw. And when that fails, they have excellent special teams. There isn’t a more balanced team in our area.

4. E.D. White – The Cardinals leap one spot this week to No. 4 after another sound victory. E.D. White returned basically their entire core off a Class 3A State Semifinals squad. Now, they’re starting to play like it, too.

5. Patterson – The Jacks did nothing wrong on the field to lose their spot at No. 4. But we move them down a spot because of concerns about All-World halfback Kenny Hilliard’s health. But then again, even nursing a bum ankle, he was able to accumulate more than 100 yards.

6. Central Catholic – Class 1A doesn’t get the love around here because of all the “big boys” throughout the area. But Central Catholic earns their way to the table today after another easy win and ultimately a 4-0 start.

The Vandebilt defensive line holds off a surge from the South Lafourche offensive line in Friday’s win for the Terriers. Vandebilt moved to 3-1 on the season with the win. CASEY GISCLAIR
