This past weekend, the NASCAR Nationwide Series raced at Dover International Speedway in Dover, DE. I did not make the trip, however, due to the fact that my initial sponsorship deal for this year was for the first 10 races of the year, which took me through the last race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Instead of preparing for a race, I spent the week working on marketing proposals, researching potential new sponsors, and catching up on updates for my fans. The job of a racecar driver goes well beyond driving the racecar.

Early in the week, I went to my team’s race shop, TriStar Motorsports, where my office is located. I spent Monday going over the weekend with my team members.

On Tuesday, I reviewed the previous race weekend with my crew chief, team owner, and general manager, as we do every week. We go over things such as chassis setup, all practice sessions, qualifying, the race itself, pit stops, and any other issues that may arise over the course of the weekend.

I spent much of the day on Wednesday updating my marketing presentation, which is used for new potential sponsors. We are constantly evolving with ideas to attract new businesses into the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The sponsorship days of simply putting a logo on a car have pretty much completely given way to relationships between companies by way of business-to-business partnerships that make sense for both parties involved. This is something that we have recently begun incorporating into our program. I spent most of the day Thursday working to update my social media pages and website. My fiancé and I do the work on updating all of my social media pages ourselves, which include Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We try to keep the pages current for our fans to be able to keep up with what is currently going on in my racing career.

This coming week, I will be heading down to Louisiana for a couple of weeks to spend some time with family, meet with potential sponsors, and enjoy a little time back down the bayou! At this time, I do not have an exact race schedule for the rest of this year, but follow me on Twitter (@HalMartinRacing) and Facebook (Hal Martin – Athlete) for all the latest news. I am planning to be back behind the wheel soon!
