Voters in Mathews will be able to early vote this October inside the pariah administration building on La. Hwy 1.

Lafourche Parish President Jimmy Cantrelle said the voting poll location will be open in time for the Nov 6 primary election, where voters will choose candidates in a number of races parish wide, including Lafourche Parish School Board and the U.S. Congress.

Councilman Corey Perrilloux, who represents the area, said early voting will be from Oct 23rd through Oct 30th.


He a aid the voters who will use the early voting location represent one third of the voters in the pariah. They live in Bayou Blue. Matthews. Raceland Kraemer Gheens, Valentine. Lockport and Dee Allemands.

For years, these voters have had to early vote in Thibodaux, at the registrar of voters office or in Galliano, inside the library building.

Perrilloux said he took office in Jan of 2016. and was soon after approached by several residents of the district. asking for his help in establishing an every voting site.


“I learned that the parish would need approval from the Secretary of State’s Office to establish an early voting site, he said.

So he scheduled a meeting in March of 2017. with Secretary of State Tom Schedler and Angle Rogers, commissioner of elections.

“After communicating the coat and opportunity to better serve the residents of Central Lafourche to the council, the Lafourche Parish Council created a budget amendment in November 2017 for the amount of $27j000 to fund the Registrar of Voters in creating the early polling place. The amendment passed and the funds are now available to complete this process,” he said


“The residents of Central Lafourche have deserved this far quite some time. It has been an inconvenience, especially to cur senior citizens who aren’t afforded the same opportunities to cast their ballots as the northern and southern parts of the parish.” he said

Cantrelle said the lack of an early voting rite in Central Lafourche, was one of the issues he campaigned on.

“We are here to serve good people of Lafourche,” said.


The Nov 6 ballot in lafourche Parish will include: a Secretary of State’s race, two races for a US-Representative. one in the 1st and another in the 8th Congressional Districts, a Judge Court of Appeal 1st Circuit race, seven Lafourche Parish School Board races, five Lafourche Parish Port Commission races,, three City of Thibodaux Races, a pariah wide one percent tai proposition for garbage, six state constitutional amendments and a proposition to determine whether fantasy sports contests shall be permitted in each parish.

Gov John Bel Edwards signed House Bill d&d in May. that will make playing fantasy sport for money, legal in the state of Louisiana; however each parish has been given the opportunity to allow or not allow it among their constituents.

If approved in a parish, the law requires the La Gaming Control Board to provide for the licensing, regulation, and taxation of the revenue..


When campaigning to be parish President Jimmy Contrelle said he’d work to bring on early voting station to people in the contral area of the parish. He delivered. Beginning in November voters can voters early at the Government Building.
