The EPA in Louisiana, a workshop outlining new proposed EPA regulations, an overview of DEQ’s role in enforcement, Advance Plan and the region’s role in maintaining the Bayou Region Advance Plan, is being offered June 30. Seating is limited and registration deadline to attend is today.

The event, free to South Central Industrial Association and Offshore Marine Service Association members, is set for 7:30 a.m. to noon at the Duhe’ Building, 235 Civic Center Blvd. in Houma. A complimentary breakfast will be served.

Willard Robison, of Seacor Marine, and Joni Tuck, of the Greater Lafourche Port Commission, will present an overview of the proposed changes, implications for industry and a timeline of changes.


Vivian Aucoin, of the La. Department of Environmental Quality, will discuss ozone, how it’s formed, the region’s averages in recent years, local causes of 03, DEQ’s role in enforcement of current and proposed regulations and LA DEQ’s perspective on the Bayou Region’s Advance Plan.

Carrie Page, of Region 6-EPA, will provide an overview on how the EPA’s Advance Plan can help locals.

Martha Cauzubon, of South Central Planning & Development, will delve into the Bayou Region’s Advance Plan and metropolitan planning organizations’ role in maintaining it.


Breakout sessions will be grouped by industry type: Marine traffic and vessels; transportation and land-based emission (non-road diesel equipment); shipbuilding and marine fabrication; and oil and gas processing.
