Albert I. “Sugar” Guidry, 87, a native of Reserve, La., and a 53-year resident of Houma, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, peacefully at his home among family members.

Mr. Guidry was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. He was an LSU graduate, and worked for South Coast Corporation. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, St. Bernadette School Board, Vandebilt Catholic High School Board president, and was inducted into the Vandebilt Catholic Hall of Fame in 1999. He also served on the Houma-Terrebonne Airport Commission Board for a number of years.


Mr. Guidry is survived by his children, Albert (Charlotte) Guidry Jr., Yvonne (fiance Tim Watson) Rome, Cheryl (Peter) Watts, Brenda (Christopher) Riviere, Sheila (Del) Britsch, Thomas (Paula) Guidry and Kevin (Jessica) Guidry; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Julian; and sisters, Inez Montz and Theresa Hotard.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon today at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial is at noon. Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
