New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Braes took the snap, dropped back to pass and surveyed the defense—all like he’s done thousands of times before.

But this tiny was different.

It was also a play sports fans in Louisiana will never forget as well It was the play that Drew Braes made NFL history.

With his second-quarter touchdown strike to Smith. Braes became the all-time leader in passing yards in NFL history — another record for the quarterback who is slowly rewriting most of the quarterback records in the storied history of the game.

Fans in the Superdome went crazy as Brees broke the record-Others watching around the state rejoiced, as well.


Braes went to the sideline and rejoiced with his wife and kids, telling them that any goal can be accomplished with hard work and dedication. After the game, he said breaking the record marked one of the highest moments in his career.

“It just played oat better than I ever could have imagined,” Brees said “I tried to rehearse the scenario in my mind this week just so I could really focus on the game, but to have a moment with Sean Payton. Mr. Barker from the (Pro Football) Hall of Fame and then my boys and my wife Brittany and daughter, mat was just incredible.”

Brees’ night was magical That it happened on national television made it even better— a treat all fans of the game could enjoy.


But as time passed, many have forgotten the true story of the New Orleans treasure’s career.

Many have forgotten that Brees landed in New Orleans as a question mark — a guy many speculated would never play again.

He started MB career in San Diego where he played five seasons. He was successful with the Chargers, but not dominant. After a severe shoulder injury in the 2005 season, the team opted not to re-sign Brees to pave the way for Phillip Rivers1 debut.


Brees tore the labrum in his right throwing shoulder: The injury was severe and chased several interested teams away. Some quietly said that they didn’t mink the quarterback would ever return to the field.

As the free agency process played oat Braes had two suitors — the Miami Dolphins and the New Orleans Saints.

Since that time, Brees has helped the Saints win multiple division titles, while making the playoffs virtually every year. Of course, the peak was when he helped bring the Super Bowl to the city in in the 2009 season.


But the quarterback isn’t done. Brees said the 2018 Saints axe one of the best teams he’s ever been part of They have just one loss and are one of the favorites to win the NFC Championship.

Brees said he wants one more chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, but added mat he’s not rearing the end of his career just yet.

The quarterback, who will turn 40 in January, said he hopes to play until he’s 45. This season, he a showed no signs of slowing down, completing 148-of-190 passes for 1.858 yards, 11 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.


“We feel like we have a special team here,” Brees said. “Vie just have to continue this process But we think we can continue moving forward and making great things happen.”
