Calvin “Coach” Buxton, 58, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016.

Since 1984, Coach Buxton was employed by Vandebilt Catholic High School where he taught biology, coached the Terrier baseball team and served, for a time, as the school’s athletic director. He was an assistant coach at H.L. Bourgeois High School and E.D. White High School prior to his time at Vandebilt. He coached the Terrier baseball team to two runner-up State champions in 1992 and 1996 and a State semi-finalist in 2003.

He is survived by his son, Chet Michael Buxton; daughter, Erin (Derek) Martin; brother, Richard Buxton Jr.; and Chet and Erin’s mother, Donna Fournier Buxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Coach’s name to Vandebilt Catholic High School are appreciated.
