A Texas man was arrested and the plane he had flown onto a Schriever airstrip was seized – along with nearly a half million dollars worth of cocaine – Louisiana State Police announced Monday.

John Crow, 29, of Brownsville is being held at the Terrebonne Parish jail in lieu of a $5 million bond, where he was booked Sept. 18 for possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II substance, and transactions involving drug proceeds.

According to TFC Evan Harrell of the State Police, troopers were notified by federal agents that a plane from Brownsville, Texas would be landing at the

airport in which they had an interest.

Agents from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Division, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Thibodaux Police Department’s canine unit responded to the airport in Schriever.

“Working together, agents met the airplane as it landed at the airport,” Harrell said. “Troopers and agents spoke to the pilot, John Crow of Brownsville. Crow was extremely nervous during the encounter and granted consent to search the airplane.”

Inside Crow’s luggage, Harrell said, troopers and agents found 15.6 kilograms, or just over 35 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $468,000.

They also found $2,090 in currency, which was seized along with the plane and the cocaine.

The Louisiana State Police are doing a civil forfeiture of the plane and the money.

Harrell said that at this point the investigation is closed. E3
