Suspect arrested for burglary and theft in both Lafourche and Terrebonne

A 23-year-old is in trouble in both Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes this week after getting arrested for multiple charges.

Last Monday, deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint at the 2200 Block of Bayou Blue Road. Upon arrival, authorities learned that a male suspect had burglarized a residence and then started tampering with a door to another residence before being confronted by a homeowner.

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene on foot in the direction of Malbrough Drive.

Lafourche Parish deputies responded to assist the search.

At about 5:45 p.m., authorities said they received a call about a suspicious person in the area, during which deputies found that the homeowner had detained the suspect after she caught him wearing her son’s letterman’s jacket.

Deputies made contact with the suspect and identified him as Jeramie Brunet, 23.

Upon contact, Brunet allegedly began resisting officers.

On his possession, authorities said they found frozen food items, which had been stolen from a freezer outside the residence.

Deputies also learned that Brunet had entered the residence without authorization, as well.

Through further investigation, Terrebonne deputies identified Brunet as a suspect in another incident earlier in the day, obtaining a warrant for his arrest.

Brunet was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, resisting an officer and theft.

His bond was set at $52,000, and he is also being held for Terrebonne Parish for charges of simple burglary and criminal trespassing.

Woman arrested in connection to Larose armed robbery

One suspect is in custody and another is sought in connection to an armed robbery in Larose.

Lafourche deputies said that just before 11 a.m. on Friday, December 16, Jasmaine Caine, 27, of Larose, and Leonard Evans Jr., 24, of Larose, forced their way into a residence on East 18th Street in Larose and demanded money from a woman inside.

While armed with a handgun, Evans allegedly forced the victim into a bedroom where he fired a single round, which struck a mattress.

Authorities said Caine then stole hundreds of dollars from the victim, before both fled the scene.

Through investigation, detectives identified the suspects, issuing warrants for their arrests.

On Dec. 21, authorities said they received a tip about Caine’s whereabouts.

Authorities then went to a convenience store on La. Highway 308 in Galliano and located Caine inside a vehicle.

He was taken into custody without incident.

She was found to have cocaine, crack cocaine and Klonopin pills in her possession, according to authorities.

Caine was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where she was booked on charges of armed robbery and armed robbery with the use of a firearm. She was also charged with possession of cocaine, crack cocaine and Clonazepam.

She is being held without bond.

Investigators are still searching for Evans, who is known as “L” or “Lenny” by those close to him.

Investigators also believe a third person may have been involved in the crime.

That person, authorities said, may have been driving the black Ford Taurus Evans and Caine were traveling in during the incidents.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433. Tipsters may remain anonymous and any tip which leads to an arrest may net someone a $1,000 cash reward.
