Zumba, an exercise fitness program, has rapidly grown in popularity in recent years with an estimated 14 million students worldwide. Many Zumba members enjoy the dance-based exercise and prefer it to more traditional programs. Mimi Porche, who has taught Zumba for five years, offers Zumba classes and an array of other workouts at her exercise studio, Fitness Frenzy.

“I have a big passion for Zumba,” says Porche, “By opening this studio, it allowed me to fulfill my passion and dreams to inspire people to get fit with Zumba, along with other exercises.”

Porche explains how in Zumba you travel around the world in an hour with its music from different cultural roots. She wanted Fitness Frenzy to be an entertaining environment, so most of the classes are done under blacklights to make for an enjoyable, dance club atmosphere.

“Our goal is to make exercise fun,” Porche says, “We know that sometimes it’s hard to be motivated to exercise. When they walk out of here, they walk out happy because they feel like it was a party instead of working out.”

Not only does Fitness Frenzy help their members accomplish health goals by exercising, but they also help with their diet as well. They are an Herbalife distributor, offering vitamins and supplements. They also sell nutritional drinks at their in-studio shake bar. Members of Fitness Frenzy also get free evaluations and can request meal plans.

“We make sure to explain to each of our members and guests that walk in here that health is 100% and 80% of it is nutrition. So it’s 20% for exercise,” Porche says, “None of them can go without the other, so we have to give them 100%”

Fitness Frenzy offers other classes that include: spin, Dance2Fit, Turbo Kick, Pilatese, Rip, and Pound—an engaging cardio workout that is inspired by playing the drums. Along with the Pound exercise, party-like atmosphere, and amount of Zumba classes offered, the personal interaction with customers, some of which became friends and message each other for motivation, makes Fitness Frenzy stand out from other gyms in the area.

“When members walk in here, it’s all about them. You are not leaving from here until you have a smile on your face,” Porche says, “We want to make sure you are happy.”

They welcome walk-ins, who can visit the studio at 243 Enterprise Drive, and a schedule of classes is posted on their Facebook.
