Hurricane Nate came and went with a wimper. But he did damage socially, causing the cancellation of several weekend events, which made the weekend schedule bland. But we’re Cajuns. We always find a way to entertain ourselves. Here are a few things locals did this weekend to pass the time.

The South Lafourche boys’ basketball team held its annual midnight madness on Sunday night to kick off the season on Monday. Here, teammates do a team-building exercise.

Mother Abby Marcel promises that young Aria (left) and Ezra don’t always get along this well. But here, they pose for a quick, cute photo together.


The storm didn’t affect fishing at all. In the Simoneaux household, young Kobi caught this massive catfish in the fresh waters of Bayou Lafourche. It was more than 30 inches long.
