Jacqueline “Jackie” Marie Stinson Bartels, 76, a native of Lafayette, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 8:35 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017.


Mrs. Bartels loved hunting and conservation as well as spending time with her family. She volunteered for many organizations, including DU, SCI, CCA, LWF, NRA and LHEIA. She was honored with the SCI’s Diana Award in 2007 recognizing her as the top female hunter in the world.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ronald “Ron” John Bartels; son, Mark (Carolyn) Callais; daughters, Phyllis (Scott) Veronie and Cindy (Robert) Lichenstein; brothers, Johnny Jr., David, Dean, Jody and Jaimie Stinson; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Burial is at a later date.
