James Joseph Collins Jr., 77, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 10:33 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.
Mr. Collins was a councilman for the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government, Grand Knight of Our Lady of Good Voyage No. 7722, Sir Knight of Faithful Natigator Assembly No. 2215 for the Knights of Columbus and finance committee member and chairman in the building of the “Grotto” at Holy Family Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Collins; daughters, Jeanine Collins and Catherine (Clay) Ohda; brother, Bernard (Betty) Collins; sisters, Phyllis (Glynn) Duplantis and Marilyn (Melvin Jr.) Benoit; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Tulane Cancer Research Center, P.O. Box S.L. 42, 1432 Tulane Ave., New Orleans, LA 70115.
Burial is at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery in Dulac, La.
