A 20-year-old Larose man was killed in a utility vehicle crash on Feb. 4.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sergeant Brennan Matherne said that at 6:30 p.m., deputies were called to a crash near the entrance of the Larose Landing subdivision.

Once there, deputies learned that Gavin Chouest, 20, of Larose, was operating a Polaris utility vehicle, driving northbound on the shoulder of La. Highway 1. Authorities learned that Chouest turned left into the subdivision when he struck a median on Avalon Avenue, which caused the Polaris to rotate. Chouest, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, and it then fell on top of him.

Authorities said Chouest was pronounced dead on the scene.
