Sit down with STEAM learning at your library: Children and teens can code, construct, create, and more with, engaging STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art. and math) resources at the Lafourche Parish. Public Library, thanks to a $5*000 after-school STEAM grant The library is one of 14 library systems across the country to receive a 2018 Strengthening Communities through Libraries grant from the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American library Association. The grant was funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Every Monday through Thursday. Lafourche’s library branches host STEAM programs for children and teens in the afternoon. Summer Reading Program begins May 20 in Lafourche: The Lafourche Parish Public Literary 13 2018 Summer Reading Program begins May 29. people of all ages can sign up and set summer reading goals, register for workshops with limited seating. And learn more about exciting programs being offered this summer. Some programs require registration, so sign up early.

Gheens Library to host Louisiana themed photo contest: The Gheens Branch Library. 153 N. Leon Drive, is hosting a photo contest for children ages 5 to 12, for teens, and for adults in May. Participants cam submit a 5″*7″ or 8″*10″ photo that encompasses a Louisiana theme beginning May 1 for entry. The deadline to submit entries is May 25. Local author to discuss parenting special seeds child: Jacqueline Toussaint Levy, author of 90 Days of Affirmations & Prayers: For a Mother with a Special Needs Child will discuss the challenges of raising a special needs child and the obstacles facing both parents and their children at 5:15pm. on May 15 at the Thibodaux Branch Library 705 W. Celebrate French heritage at the Lockport library: Celebrate Lafourche’s French heritage with French Night at 5 p.m. on May 16 at the Lockport Branch library. 720 Crescent Avenue Story time will be hosted by local French teacher Nadia Talata, and families can make a special French-themed craft.

Show your appreciation for military personnel at the Choctaw library: Write a letter of appreciation or color a picture to be sent in care packages to military members overseas from 10 a.m. to 6 pm on Monday, May
