Voter demands candidates provide proof of allegations of wrongdoing

Dear Editor,

As a citizen, voter and taxpayer I am in total disbelief that there is such negativity in the campaigns to be a state representative. This negativity is messing with someone’s name, reputation and the family of the candidate.

Controversy probably brings in a lot of advertising and postal revenue; but as a voter, all I am interested in is factual information that helps me make a reasonably intelligent decision before casting my one vote.

Therefore, what I am asking from all of you, is is to provide me with the actual documents that support the advertising claims.

Some allegations are that the FBI is investigating one candidate, Terrebonne Parish officials are investigating another.

If these people are under investigation, send me the proof that you must already have in your possession since it is being used to campaign.

If there was in fact an investigation, then provide me with the proof of the findings. There should be clear cut proof that the individual is either guilty or has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Whether or not I currently live in your district, if elected, you will vote on issues that impact me. So these questions to you are indeed relevant.

Since you are apparently staking your name and reputation on your advertising, you should have the documents already in your possession to substantiate the claims and can readily provide them.

Therefore, to the candidates, please forward the documentation to me today. To the media, I request that as a public service, the documentation be publicized, allegation by allegation and the proof for each allegation and the results of the investigations.

It would be a shame if votes are cast based on false information. To me, that would be the true definition of a wasted or lost vote. We all deserve better than that!

I am trying to be as professional as possible in addressing this issue. Trust that you will do the same.

Thank you and look forward to hearing from you.
