A 36-year-old Lockport man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly broke into a vehicle during a church service.
On Sunday, September 24, authorities responded to St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland in reference to a vehicle break-in, which authorities believe happened during the church proceedings.
The victims left their vehicle unlocked and several items were stolen during the breakin.
Through investigation, authorities tracked the stolen items to a store in Terrebonne Parish, and Andy Domangue, 36, of Lockport, was developed as a suspect.
On October 2, deputies located Domangue, and he was arrested on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court. At that time, he was also questioned about the vehicle burglary and he allegedly admitted to being a willing participant in the crime.
For that, he is now also charged with simple burglary of a motor vehicle.
Domangue was booked in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and he is held in lieu of a $22,500 bond.
He is also being held in Terrebonne Parish due to an outstanding warrant for theft.
