Lodillia Mae Carter Evans (Dee Dee Mae) died June 30, 2015. Mrs. Evans received a bachelor’s in education at Dillard University and earned a master’s plus 30 hours in education from Southern University of Baton Rouge. She was a kindergarten teacher and assistant principal at William J. Fischer School and Chapter One resource teacher at George Washington Elementary. She was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Women’s Group and choir, Conference Sons & Daughters, Eta Phi Beta Sorority and the 39ers, and served as a volunteer at Deirdre’s School of Dancing. After Hurricane Katrina, she joined Windsor Village United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph (Joe) Evans; daughter, Desiree (Anthony) Evans Tigner; stepdaughter, Rosalind Evans; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
