A 6-year veteran of Lafourche Parish law enforcement was arrested and fired Friday night, after admitting to a sex crime involving a juvenile.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the dismissal and arrest of 29-year-old Trent Barrilleaux of of Thibodaux, who was booked on two counts of sexual battery involving forcible fondling. His bond was set at $100,000.
“The announcement of this arrest comes with much dismay and utter disappointment, but we have always been up front with the public in matters such as this,” Webre said. “We want to assure the public and the family of the victim that we will do our part to ensure this individual will be held accountable
for his egregious actions.”
Webre said that detectives learned Barrilleaux contacted a deputy on Feb. 3, and he asked questions regarding what type of behavior would be considered inappropriate with a juvenile. The next day a complaint was filed regarding the juvenile. Detectives questioned Barrilleaux in reference to the case, and he admitted to inappropriate sexual contact with the child on multiple occasions.
Barrilleaux was a mechanic in fleet operations, but also worked as a bailiff and a patrol deputy.
