Six area LSU University College freshmen were initiated into the Phi Eta Sigma national honor society.

The organization is designed to recognize first-year students who a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average. Inductees receive national recognition, membership and undergraduate and graduate opportunities of more than $300,000.

Local inductees are:


Hailey Marie Andras of Schriever; Kalin Kristopher Larousse of Thibodaux; Erin LeBoeuf ofHouma; Pham Hoang Khang ofHouma; Jasmine Jenai Simmons of Houma; Lauren Elizabeth Verret of Lockport; Andrew Thomas Watkins ofHouma.

More than 1 million scholars have been inducted into Phi Eta Sigma.
