Start the new year off right with these nutrition tips:


1. EAT BREAKFAST:

We can’t say this enough – eat breakfast within one hour of waking. Your body is like a car, if the gas tank is empty you won’t be going anywhere. Breakfast within one hour of waking jump starts your metabolism.

2. START WITH SMALL CHANGES:


Make small changes to your day to start creating healthier, lifelong habits. For example, switch from full fat dairy to skim or non-fat dairy and save 50 calories, replace butter with oil in cooking, or change a lower percentage of ground meat to a higher percentage for leaner protein.

3. PACE YOURSELF:

It takes 20 minutes for your brain to tell your stomach that you’re full. Eat slowly and enjoy your meal.


4. EAT YOUR VEGETABLES FIRST:

The fiber found in vegetables will help keep you full, and this will help prevent you from overeating higher calorie foods at your meal.

5. ENJOY ALL FOODS IN MODERATION:


Make sure to begin reading the nutrition labels and become aware of the serving sizes.
